"Stay Close" launched in January 2005 thanks to donated media space by Time Inc. and Viacom, as well as help from the Ad Council.  We would love for "Stay Close" to continue to grow and turn into one of those rare campaigns that influences an entire generation.   PFLAG has so much to offer and so many people could benefit from their services.

Here's what we're doing to keep the campaign alive and what you can do to help:

EXPOSURE
Please visit our 'donate' section to see how you can help with the next media blitz.    We will continue to pursue donations for the media space, but need help to cover posting fees and printing costs.

CELEBRITIES
We are talking to other celebrities who might want to join the campaign.  Stay tuned for updates on who you will see next.  If you know of a celebrity who would want to participate in the campaign, please contact us in the "contact Stay Close" section- we would love to hear from you.  Thank you.

March 05:
- Freedom Press, Nashville's #1 GLBT newsweekly, ran the campaign up from March to the Pride issue in June.   Each ad will appear for one or two weeks at the time.  Grab your Freedom Press paper now and check out www.churchstreetfreedompress.com.

April 05:
- Time Magazine, "The 100 Most Influencial People" issue, featured the "Stay Close" ad with the Gephardt family.  (Note, there seems to be several runs and not all newsstand versions feature the ad).  We are grateful to Time Inc for supporting PFLAG and look forward to seeing more of the campaign within the Time Inc pages.

May 05:
- Time Inc. once again is supporting PFLAG in its effort to spread the "Stay Close" message.  In the June issue of People in Espagnol, you will find the ad with Cristina & her brother Ignacio.

- Queer Ramblings Magazine is featuring Congressman Meeks and his brother John in its May-July issue.   We thank Sandra, the editor, for her donation to the campaign. Check out www.queerramblings.com for more information.

June 05:
- On June 26th, NYC celebrated Pride with much fanfare as usual. PFLAG NYC lead the PFLAG chapters from the region with a "Stay Close" team of supporters and the "Stay Close" billboard truck. The cheers from the sidelines were so heart-filled and encouraging. The week following Pride, we received numerous emails to the website from people seeing "Stay Close" in the parade.  (see pics in our photo gallery section).

-Lincoln Center Celebrates Gay Pride: In a first-time salute to Gay Pride 2005 in New York City, Lincoln Center presented a special series of events June 21- 23, featuring both gay and straight talents in the arts, with appearances by such guests as playwright Paula Vogel and singers Cyndi Lauper and Barbara Cook. The crowd was thrilled with the performances of our “Stay Close” stars, who received standing ovations. (see pics in our photo gallery section).

October 05:
- On October 10th, PFLAG NYC held its annual Awards Dinner to celebrate "Stay Close".  Award recipients were Cyndi Lauper and her sister Elen for posing in the first ad; NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue and his wife Chandler for their generous donation to the campaign; Viacom for providing media placement; and the volunteer creatives behind the campaign.  The event was a huge success thanks to all the "Stay Close" supporters and attendance by Cyndi Lauper and her sister; Jason, Ben Affleck's cousin; NFL Commissioner Mr. Tagliabue; Congressman Nadler; and Mayor Bloomberg.

November 05:
- New York Gay Expo: On November 19-20, 2005, "Stay Close" made a great showing at the New York Gay Expo at the Javits Center.  More than a hundred visitors posed for their very own Stay Close photographs! Come visit us again at the next Gay Expo in April 2006 and take home your own Stay Close photograph!

 June 30th 2006:

On this day, PFLAG made history as the second gay organization to ring the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange.   The first gay organization was the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.  Please go to NYSE.com to see a picture of the PFLAG members and supporters rigging the bell.

Walter Schubert, founder of Gay Financial Network (GFN.com) and openly gay member of the NYSE hosted a luncheon for PFLAG and Stay Close at the Downtown Association.  The honored guests were Barbara Cook (Broadway legend, part of the Stay Close campaign), Alan Hevesi (State Comptroller), and Catherine Kinney (co-president of NYSE), who spoke of advocating diversity in the work place.

Other distinguished guests were: Betsy Gotham (NYC Public Advocate), Andy Tobias (Treasurer of the Democratic National Committee), Suzanne Ramos and Dew Tagliabue (PFLAG NYC board members and Stay Close co-founders), Sam Thoron (Director of the PFLAG Board of Directors), Jody Huckaby (Executive Director of PFLAG National).
